Aptamer
A short oligonucleotide that folds into a shape which binds a target molecule, like an antibody made of DNA or RNA.
An aptamer is a short single stranded DNA or RNA that folds into a specific three dimensional shape, allowing it to bind a target molecule with high affinity and selectivity, much like an antibody does.
Aptamers are selected from large random libraries and are central to the Syngenis aptamer based diagnostics pipeline.
